It’s finally here; the season of getting cosy in bed, the days of Netflix binging and sipping on endless amounts of hot chocolate. I, for one, love this time of year because I am such a recluse and am a lover of the things I have just mentioned, so it’s perfect for me to be able to sit indoors, listen to the rain on the window and know that I don’t have to leave the house.
I’ve teamed up with Debenhams on their campaign to help with cosying up this winter and creating the perfect setting for your dark and cold nights. I’ve selected a couple of items from their new collection to make my evening as Hygge as possible.
There’s no better feeling than coming home from work and getting straight under a throw* on the sofa and spending the rest of the night there. I chose the cosiest one I could get my hands on; one that keeps you warm and toasty on those nights sitting in front of the fire. I’m a true fan of wrapping myself up like a cocoon and only moving when I need another cup of tea or more snacks.
Getting the right accessories to help with Hygge is important for creating the overall ambience of your room. Choosing subtle statement pieces like a patterned cushion* is perfect to add just that dash of colour to help with the warmth, and therefore helping your relax when you need it the most. This orange piece that I’ve chosen is gorgeous; introducing the right amount of colour to contribute to the atmosphere of your evening and help with that cosy feeling.
It’s time to go up to bed and leave the warmth of the blanket, but no worries because the bedding available is juuuust as cosy as everything else. Sometimes getting under a cold duvet is one of the best feelings ever, allowing you to cool down just enough so you can warm back up again. Heaven! This cotton duvet cover* is perfect for keeping things minimal with the understated print, it will refresh the look and feel of your bedroom and keep you warm at the same time… what could be better?
Lighting is important for helping with the mood of the room. Picking a style that compliments the other pieces but stands out as a feature of the bedroom is crucial. This copper and black lamp* that caught my eye (like a magpie!) works together with the rest of my choices to finish off the cosy and warm feeling of my evening. Copper is a faultless accent for the bedroom, creating the true feel of elegance and aura that surrounds you.
Creating your Hygge is easy, it’s all about choosing the right pieces to compliment one another and create an overall feeling of warmth and comfort. What do you do to chill out?
