A sanction is kind of like an inheritance, it can be good or bad, what you get depends on how you act. There are positive and negative sanctions, positive sanctions are good and negative sanctions are bad.
In Psalms 16 we learn that evil-doers receive negative sanctions. In verses 3 and 4 the leading officials desire other gods so their troubles multiply. The leading officials troubles multiply, receive negative sanctions, because they desire other gods.
In Psalms 16 it says that God is David’s inheritance. In verse 6 it says that David has a good inheritance. David has a good inheritance, because his inheritance is God and God is good.
In Psalms 17 God upholds David. In verse 5 David’s asks God to uphold his footsteps so that he won’t slip.
In Psalms 17 we learn that evil-doers receive negative sanctions. Just like in chapter 16, we see that evil-doers receive negative sanctions. Evil-doers receive negative sanctions because they are doing evil things.
In Psalms 19 we see that Gods law is perfect. In verse 7 it says that the law of the LORD is perfect.
In Psalms 19 God keeps His people from sin, if they ask. In verse 13 it says keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins. If they ask for help from sin He will help them.
In Psalms 20 God supports His people. In verse 2 it says may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion. We get positive sanctions if we get help from God.
