The story of Noah and the flood is one of the most commonly known stories in the Bible. The story of Noah and the flood can be found in Genesis 6:9-9:17. God saw that there was evil on the earth and decided that he was going to destroy the earth with a flood, but Noah was righteous and found favor in the eyes of the LORD. God told Noah to build an ark of Gopher wood. God told Noah to build the ark 300 cubits long, 50 cubits across and 30 cubits high. The ark would have to be big enough to fit two of every kind of animal, Noah, his family, and food for all of them.
Ethics is the discipline of what is right and wrong and what is good or bad. As I said earlier, Noah was righteous and found favor in the eyes of the LORD. Even though the world was unethical, Noah was ethical. Noah was taught to be ethical by God. The Bible doesn’t say anything about Noah’s family being ethical, so we don’t know if Noah’s family was saved because they were part of Noah’s family or because they were also ethical.
To sanction something is to declare it to be right or wrong. God sanctioned the world as evil, because he declares what is right or wrong. He is also the one who declared Noah to be righteous. When people start deciding what is right or wrong they are on the path to evil.
Today there are a lot of people who want to decide what is right or wrong. We need to look to the Bible for what God has declared is right or wrong.
